The first British civilian casualty of WWII

James Isbister from Stenness was the first British civilian casualty of WWII. He died on 16th March 1940, after a Junkers Ju 88 returning from a raid on the naval base of Scapa Flow jettisoned its remaining bombs near his home at the Brig o Waithe in Stenness in Orkney.
